　　Australian Education International is the international arm of the Australian government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. AEI provides leadership across all levels of government and industry to support the sustainable development of a world-class, globally connected international education and training system in Australia. In China, AEI is represented at the Australian Embassy in Beijing and Australian Consulates General in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong .

　　In 2008, there were 127,700 student enrolments from China at Australian education institutions:

　　• 57,000 in Higher Education and Foundation Sector;

　　• 在高等教育和大学预科课程中的注册总数为5.7万；

　　• 31,500 in the English Language Sector;

　　• 25,500 in the Vocational Education and Training Sector; and

　　• 在职业教育与培训课程中的注册总数为2.55万；
