　　中新网5月29日电据香港明报报道，今年首推“全球年轻大学排名”，根据去年QS全球大学排名，为校龄少于50年的院校排名，当中全球排37的中文大学位列第1，排40的科大紧随其后。教协秘书洪英豪说，年轻院校靠排名打响知名度属无可厚非，有助争取资源，但当院校达到一定水平时，便应追求更高质量，不可因排名而止步。

　　香港有3所院校打入“全球年轻大学排名”，创校49年的中大占据榜首，创校21年的科大排第2，创校28年的城大排第9。不过在亚洲大学排名榜中，科大却力压中大称冠，原因在于两个排行榜计分方法不同。“全球年轻大学排名”是以去年“全球大学排名”分数计算，而“全球大学排名”和“亚洲大学排名”的计分方法不一。

　　例如全球排名学术界评分占整体分数四成，但亚洲排名只占三成；另外，亚洲排名会计算每名教授平均发表论文数量，而全球排名不设此项，故会出现科大在亚洲大学排名力压中大，而中大在“全球年轻大学排名”反胜科大的情况。

　　洪英豪说，英国亦有个别“60后”大学排名榜，为年轻院校分高低，他认同为此类院校另外排名，有助优秀的年轻大学打响名堂，争取更多资源。不过他指出，不少年轻院校为达到排名榜要求，例如国际化、师生比例等，可能采取“重量不重质”方法，教研质素可能并无实际受益。因此，年轻院校达到一定水平后，便应由重量变为重质，才能吸引优秀学者、学生加入，令院校继续前进。
